Young & Empowered

About Us

Young & Empowered is aimed at improving the lives of children and youth of Lunzu area in the outskirts of Blantyre city through mentorship, spiritual enhancing and educational programs.

The organization was founded by two young leaders, Lucy and Dorothy, as a response to the unique challenges facing children and youth growing up in the cities of Malawi.

Young and Empowered envisions a future where the children and youth have access to the needed resources for the realization of their dreams; allowing them to be active participants in the development of their communities.

Our mission is to provide high quality supplementary academic support, leadership trainings, mentorship and economic opportunities to children and youth living is vulnerable communities.

Our Programs

After-school & Summer Camp Programs

These programs are designed to provide children with quality development programs. We offer Bible lessons, life skills, counselling, vocational training and early education We provide tutoring, food and medical care.

Camp Leader Program

These youth are given a chance to earn a small stipend, learn job training skills and receive academic support when we take them back to school for further studies.

Girls Empowerment

Addressing the feminine, educational, and spiritual needs of young ladies with a holistic approach. This program will bring additional training opportunities and educational support for the girls in the program.

Holiday Camp Programs

Camps take place when schools close in April, August, and December. Students learn digital skills, life skills, entrepreneurship, discipleship, and leadership.

Parenting Classes

We believe that children thrive when their parents also thrive. Our parenting classes support parents by giving them tools to sustain themselves, their children and their community. And now, we have started a micro-Loan program to support our kids parents with some small capital to start businesses and boosters to those who already have businesses.

Joyful Hearts School

Joyful Hearts School opened in 2019 with 25 students, and now we have 185 students beginning with pre-school.
